A Day

Today we kicked into high gear about Patrick learning his letters and numbers.  We found some awesome ideas online to make it a more hands on, physical, and sensory driven activity and he responded well.  It makes me happy.  He also just wrote his name with a marker and did quite well.

I made these bags for Patrick to practice writing his letters and numbers with.  He really likes them.  The ideas we read online use kids paint.  Makes sense.  We didn't have any and I am totally unwilling to spend lots of money on paint that will be dumped into a plastic bag.  So I got creative.  I have tons and tons of lotions and bath products I have never used, dating back years.  I realized they are the perfect consistency for these baggies.  So, I went for it.  I taped the tops of the bags as well and will toss them as soon as I see any weaknesses.  In the below picture, he is using his favorite bag.  It is a foot scrub and has tiny little granules that give it some texture.  I'm glad this project was almost free.  I did have to buy the bags at some point, but didn't purchase them today.

We also spent most of the day in our jammies.  Henry ate an apple and made some seriously cute faces.  Patrick played.  They looked at a potty book together.  Daddy and Henry spent some time on the iPad.  It's been a good day.

One of the only ways he'll eat an apple most days.

Seriously, I know his jammies say Calvin Klein.  I adore them, but I'm a bit embarrassed as we don't tend to buy name brands.  We only paid $3 for them on clearance at TJ Maxx.
